Peter Jennings Way
Peter Jennings, longtime anchor of ABC nightly news (US) program World News Tonight, had a New York City street named in his honor today. The portion of 66th Street between Columbus Avenue and Central Park which is home to ABC News headquarters was renamed Peter Jennings Way. Jennings died of cancer last August. Jennings lived and worked in this block of NYC. According to his family, he knew shopkeepers and street vendors in the neighborhood. Jennings' family members said the gesture was especially meaningful to them and they hoped it would remind journalists and passers-by of his life and legacy.
