Sweet Baby James

James Taylor will be honored Monday night as the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences MusiCares Person of the Year. Taylor will be honored for his contribution to the arts, as well as environmental and humanitarian causes. During his early life, Taylor battled his personal demons but also had success in music and was a major figure in the rock-n-roll scene of the 1960's and the anti-war and integration movements. Taylor has this bit of hard-won wisdom for today's young songwriters and singers: “I would advise you to keep your overhead down; avoid a major drug habit; play every day; and take it in front of other people. They need to hear it, and you need them to hear it.”
