The opening selection at this year's Cannes Film Festival will be The Da Vinci Code . The film is directed by Ron Howard and stars Tom Hanks, Audrey Tautou, and Ian McKellen. Howard got permission to film in the Louvre from French president Jacques Chirac who is a huge fan of the bestselling novel by Dan Brown on which the film is based. Insiders are calling the film "a masterpiece." The film will be released worldwide two days after its premiere at Cannes on May 17.
