What "Trust Me..." Is All About

From time to time, I'll post my opinions about things I love as the "Trust Me..." section. Things I love include movies, books, wine, food, and music.

I learned something about "my opinions" sitting in the movie The 40 Year Old Virgin next to a stranger in his 30's I'd guess. While I thought the film mildly amusing, he was near hysteria. In fact, he got so carried away that he started poking me and making little comments to me. I was happy he was having such a wonderful experience at the movies, afterall that's what we all go to the movies for. My point is this: We bring our whole selves - mind, body, spirit - with us when we view anything; it's the filter we see through. That may be a simple idea, but it wasn't obvious to me before that day. Previously, I had thought that a film could be judged strictly on its merits, but I now understand that the viewer has a role to play in the film also because once the film is out in the public, it's viewed through millions of filters and the filmmaker can't control any of that.

So remember "Trust Me..." sections are really only movies, wine, books, and music judged through my filter. I'd love to get your comments and I'll remember you've got a filter too.
